The Venator II-class Star Destroyer, often referred to as a Venator II, was the successor to the well known Venator-class Star Destroyer. The Venator II-class saw widespread use during the First Confederate War by the Stonewall Federation, and was seen used by the Federation in the Killik War. Currently still in production, the Venator II-class has been one of the most popular ships used by the Stonewall Federation.
Characteristics[]
At just over 1100 meters, the Venator II was considered a merge of the Imperial II-class and the Venator I-class. Although unable to carry as many starfighers as its predecessor, it was able to match the firepower of most Imperial Star Destroyer variants.
The Venator II featured the SDC VSD-90d Shield generators. It was propelled by four SDC VSD Ion Mark IV engines, two SDC VSe Mark I sublight engines, and two SDC TTy Tertiary engines. The Venator II was armed with 50 Quad Laser Cannons, 45 Heavy Turbolaser Batteries, 60 Heavy Turbolsaer Cannons, 30 Heavy Ion Cannons, 4 Proton Bomb Launchers, and 10 Tractor Beam Projectors.
This class was also the first class the Stonewall Defense Corporation designed that dedicated several functions that crew normally performed to droids and droid brains. This cut the required number of crew drastically, allowing fewer crew to operate each ship.
History[]
The Venator II-class Star Destroyer was developed by the SDC after long use of the Venator-class found many design flaws. The Venator II was a beefed up version of the original Venator, featuring a more discrete bridge tower and heavier armor and weapons.
As with the Imperial II, the Stonewall Federation did not plan to purchase anymore Venator II's after the Second Confederate War, rather preferring to further integrate Nebula-class and Peace-class Star Destroyers into its ranks. The Stonewall Defense Corporation halted production of the Venator II in 11 NE, however production restarted in early 12 NE after numerous requests by naval officers.
